{"id":89994,"date":"2025-10-31T22:28:28","date_gmt":"2025-10-31T17:28:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=89994"},"modified":"2025-10-31T22:28:28","modified_gmt":"2025-10-31T17:28:28","slug":"major-increase-in-house-rent-ceiling-for-government-employees-approved","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/business\/major-increase-in-house-rent-ceiling-for-government-employees-approved\/","title":{"rendered":"Major increase in house rent ceiling for government employees approved"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: The<a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/business\/federal-government-abolished-5-percent-digital-tax-on-online-purchases-abroad\/\"> federal government<\/a> has approved an 85 percent increase in house rent ceiling for government employees.<\/p>\n<p>The federal cabinet has approved a summary of the Ministry of Housing and Works\u2019 85 percent increase in house rent ceiling, proposing a uniform increase for all federal employees from grades one to 22.<\/p>\n<p>Hundreds of government employees will benefit from the increase in the house rent ceiling.<\/p>\n<p>However, this increase will increase the burden of Rs 12 billion annually on the treasury.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, the Ministry of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/business\/federal-govt-decides-to-increase-housing-rent-of-employees-by-85-percent\/\">Housing<\/a>\u00a0and Works sent a summary to the federal cabinet, demanding an 85 per cent increase in the house rent ceiling. The summary recommended a uniform increase for federal employees from Grade 1 to 22.<\/p>\n<p>Under the cabinet decision, all federal employees from grades one to 22 will get a uniform increase in the housing rent ceiling.<\/p>\n<p>According to reports, the decision will impose a financial burden of about Rs 12 billion on the national exchequer; however, it is likely to provide substantial relief to federal employees amid rising inflation.<\/p>\n<p>Sources said that this increase is a fulfillment of a long-pending demand for employees, which will reduce the burden of housing costs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis decision will make a real difference to employees struggling with rent costs,\u201d said a senior finance ministry official, calling the increase a long-overdue reform.<\/p>\n<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2a992e4c elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"2a992e4c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n<p>The hike will now be calculated on the current basic pay, which has been long-awaited, as the allowance was still based on the 2008 basic pay scale.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: The federal government has approved an 85 percent increase in house rent ceiling for government employees.
