{"id":90131,"date":"2025-11-02T19:23:17","date_gmt":"2025-11-02T14:23:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=90131"},"modified":"2025-11-02T19:23:17","modified_gmt":"2025-11-02T14:23:17","slug":"private-hospital-sells-newborn-baby-to-settle-medical-bills","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/private-hospital-sells-newborn-baby-to-settle-medical-bills\/","title":{"rendered":"Private hospital sells newborn baby to settle medical bills"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KARACHI: A shocking incident has emerged in Karachi\u2019s Memon Goth area, where a <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/health\/first-test-tube-baby-born-in-dera-ismail-khan\/\">newborn<\/a> was allegedly sold by a private hospital for unpaid medical bills.<\/p>\n<p>According to the police, the hospital administration sold the infant under the pretext of settling delivery expenses.<\/p>\n<p>SSP Malir Abdul Khaliq Pirzada said a case was registered on the complaint of the father of the child, and the police recovered the newborn successfully.<\/p>\n<p>The hospital where the infant was born has been sealed, and the two suspects, Dr. Zahra and a woman named Shama Baloch, are yet to be apprehended.<\/p>\n<p>Investigations had revealed that Shama Baloch was a hospital employee and had sold the newborn in Punjab in coordination with Dr. Zahra.<\/p>\n<p>The FIR quotes Dr. Zahra as telling the baby\u2019s mother that if she could not pay the hospital expenses, she knew a woman who \u201chelps the poor and raises their children\u201d and would bear the costs.<\/p>\n<p>Thereafter, Shama deposited the amount required, and after the delivery, the hospital handed over the newborn to her.
