{"id":93869,"date":"2025-12-14T14:23:45","date_gmt":"2025-12-14T09:23:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=93869"},"modified":"2025-12-14T14:23:45","modified_gmt":"2025-12-14T09:23:45","slug":"air-quality-index-hits-802-as-hazardous-smog-engulfs-lahore","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/weather\/air-quality-index-hits-802-as-hazardous-smog-engulfs-lahore\/","title":{"rendered":"Air Quality Index hits 802 as hazardous smog engulfs Lahore"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LAHORE: Smog in Lahore turned hazardous when the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/business\/nepra-decision-protects-karachi-consumers-promotes-fair-power-reforms\/\">Air Quality Index<\/a> reached 802 in Allama Iqbal Town.<\/p>\n<p>The overall AQI in Lahore was recorded at 501, making it the second-most polluted city after Delhi.<\/p>\n<p>On December 12, AQI reached its peak at 497, making Lahore the most polluted city in the world.<\/p>\n<p>The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has said that the air quality in the city is expected to stay below par in the days to come.<\/p>\n<p>Anti-smog squads have been mobilised across Lahore, and strict inspection of industrial units has begun to counter the smog effects.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for the Environment Protection Department has said that, on the instructions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, a comprehensive action plan to curb smog is being implemented, reports said.<\/p>\n<p>Smog guns are continuously operated at places with very high AQI levels, while sprinkling of water through cannons is in progress in many areas of the city.<\/p>\n<p>To this effect, the Local Government Department, in collaboration with the Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) and WASA, has expedited mutual efforts to clean and wash roads by initiating a massive road-washing drive in the city and its surroundings.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LAHORE: Smog in Lahore turned hazardous when the Air Quality Index reached 802 in Allama Iqbal Town.
