{"id":96797,"date":"2026-01-08T20:22:06","date_gmt":"2026-01-08T15:22:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=96797"},"modified":"2026-01-08T20:22:06","modified_gmt":"2026-01-08T15:22:06","slug":"nepra-approves-rs1-79-per-unit-increase-in-electricity-tariff","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/nepra-approves-rs1-79-per-unit-increase-in-electricity-tariff\/","title":{"rendered":"NEPRA approves Rs1.79 per unit increase in electricity tariff"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (<a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/power-division-welcomes-nepras-review-of-k-electric-tariff\/\">NEPRA<\/a>) has approved an increase of Rs1.79 per unit in the power tariffs in the country.<\/p>\n<p>This\u00a0will come into effect from January 1 after approval from the federal government.<\/p>\n<p>NEPRA further states that &#8220;the result of the petition for the increase in the tariff rate from 6% to 10% for a period of three years&#8221; has also been dispatched to the federal government, and the increased tariff rate shall<\/p>\n<p>Currently, the average base rate for units of electricity is fixed at Rs31.59.<\/p>\n<p>NEPRA, however, has declared a reduction of 93 paisa per unit by way of Fuel Price Adjustment (FPA) due to last month\u2019s fuel prices.<\/p>\n<p>This will be seen in electricity bills of power consumers across the country, including Karachi, effective from the bills.<\/p>\n<p>Lifeline consumers, however, will not receive the effect of the Fuel Price Adjustment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved an increase of Rs1.79 per unit in the power tariffs in the country.
