The action was taken following official intervention during the early hours, as authorities continue efforts to curb disturbances caused by prolonged wedding functions.

According to the first information report (FIR), the incident took place around 1:30am on January 27 in Mohalla Mandar, Haveli Lakha, located in Okara district. Police stated that Muhammad Qasim Rehmani, son of Ijaz Ahmed Rehmani, was hosting a wedding ceremony at the time. The event reportedly involved loud music played through a sound system at high volume, along with dancing that continued well beyond legally permitted hours.

Officials said the noise disturbed residents of the area and violated regulations set for marriage functions. The FIR notes that songs considered inappropriate were played openly, while people were seen dancing in the street, creating a public nuisance. Based on these observations, the police registered the case under the Punjab Marriage Functions Act 2016 and the Punjab Sound Systems (Regulation) Act 2015, both of which regulate timing, volume levels, and conduct during wedding events.

The FIR also includes allegations that weapons were openly displayed during the gathering. If confirmed during investigation, this could lead to additional charges under the Punjab Arms (Amendment) Ordinance 2015. Section 294 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which relates to obscene acts and disturbance of public peace, has also been applied.

The case was registered on the written complaint of Chaudhry Saad-ul-Zaman Dogar, Price Control Magistrate of the Municipal Committee Haveli Lakha. Assistant Sub-Inspector Ghulam Mohiuddin confirmed that the application was recorded as received and entered into official records. Investigation responsibilities have been assigned to Ali Raza, who will examine the allegations and collect evidence.

Wedding noise law violation.
