Industry sources have indicated that a petrol diesel price change<\/strong> is likely from February 1, with petrol expected to become slightly cheaper while diesel prices may increase across Pakistan. The anticipated adjustment comes as part of the government\u2019s regular fuel price review, which considers global oil trends, exchange rates, and local taxation.<\/p>\n

According to initial estimates shared by industry officials, the price of petrol could be reduced by around Rs0.36 per litre. In contrast, high-speed diesel is expected to see a significant increase of up to Rs9.47 per litre. These projected changes, if approved, will take effect from the start of February and may impact transportation costs and household expenses.<\/p>\n

Officials familiar with the matter said the proposed price revisions are based on current international oil market movements and import costs. However, they stressed that the figures are preliminary and subject to final government approval.<\/p>\n

Expected Changes in Petroleum Prices<\/h2>\n

Besides petrol and high-speed diesel, other petroleum products are also expected to become more expensive. Estimates suggest that kerosene oil prices could rise by about Rs3.69 per litre, while light diesel oil may increase by approximately Rs6.95 per litre.<\/p>\n

Industry sources confirmed that the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) will send its working paper and price summary to the Petroleum Division on January 30. This summary will outline the recommended adjustments for all major fuel products, based on prevailing market indicators.<\/p>\n

Following OGRA\u2019s submission, the Ministry of Finance<\/a> will review the proposals and forward its recommendations for final approval. As per the standard process, the ultimate decision will be taken after consultation with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.<\/p>\n

Government Review and Public Impact<\/h2>\n

In recent months, fuel prices have remained a sensitive issue due to their direct impact on inflation and daily living costs. Any increase in diesel prices, in particular, affects public transport fares and the cost of goods, as diesel is widely used in freight and agriculture.<\/p>\n

Government officials have stated in the past that price adjustments aim to balance economic stability with consumer relief, while aligning domestic prices with international trends. No official notification has been issued so far, and authorities have urged the public to wait for the final announcement.<\/p>\n

The federal government is expected to formally announce the revised petroleum prices late on January 31.
