ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) led federal government is all set to present its first budget for fiscal year 2024-25 with total outlay of Rs18,000 billion tomorrow on June 12, with the federal employees expected significant increase in their salaries and pensions.
As per the reports, the government will propose a 10 to 15 percent increase in the salaries and pensions of government employees in the upcoming budget.
Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb will present the budget in the National Assembly.
If the above proposal is approved by the Parliament, the government employees will get their salaries with increments from July 2024.
Meanwhile, the government is expected to set a tax collection target of Rs 12.9 trillion for the next fiscal year while debt and interest payments are estimated at Rs 9.5 trillion.
Reports suggest that the government may increase the sales tax rate by one percent to collect additional revenue.
