LAHORE: Punjab’s Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has announced the launch of the province’s first Livestock Card, set to be activated on December 15.

This initiative aims to support 80,000 farmers across Punjab, enabling them to purchase essential items like cattle feed, mineral mixture, and silage from registered dealers using the card.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif emphasized the government’s commitment to the economic independence of Punjab’s farmers, stating, “All measures are being taken for the economic independence of every farmer living in villages of Punjab. We will fully support the farmers and cattle growers of Punjab.”

Registration Process

To register, farmers can visit their nearest veterinary hospital or send a message to 8070 with the required information. A dedicated helpline is also established for applicants.

Additionally, cattle farmers will be eligible for an interest-free loan of Rs27,000 per animal, with a maximum amount of Rs270,000. The loan will be disbursed in installments, starting four months after registration.

Earlier, to fully support the farmers, the Punjab government’s Green Tractor Scheme has garnered an overwhelming response, with over 1.5 million applications received from farmers across the province.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz approved the scheme, which aims to provide 9,500 tractors to farmers at subsidized prices through balloting. The scheme offers a significant subsidy of Rs. 10 lakh on 50 to 85 HP tractors manufactured in Pakistan. Eligible farmers, those with 1 to 50 acres of agricultural land, can benefit from this initiative.
