ISLAMABAD: A high-level committee meeting was held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar to review the national sugar stock situation and determine the country’s import requirements.
After a detailed review, the committee approved the import of up to 500,000 metric tons of sugar to ensure stable supply across the country and maintain price stability.
Deputy Prime Minister Dar reiterated the government’s commitment to protect the interests of consumers and curb market volatility by taking timely measures.
The meeting was attended by the Minister for Food, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, Secretary to the Ministry of Food, senior officials of the Ministry of Industries and Production, besides key industry stakeholders.
