KARACHI: Police confirmed on Tuesday that the body of actress and model Humaira Asghar Ali was found in an apartment in Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority.

According to DIG South Syed Asad Raza, the body was found in a flat in Ittehad Commercial Phase VI. In an official statement, Gizri police identified the deceased as a 32-year-old actress and estimated that she had died about two weeks before her body was found.

DIG Raza explained that Gizri police were following a court order to vacate the apartment. When officers arrived at 3:15 pm and did not receive any response after knocking, they broke the lock and entered the premises, where they found the body. The crime scene unit was then called to collect forensic evidence.

Ali was staying in the apartment as a tenant. DIG Raza said that the condition of the body suggests that he had been there for several days.

However, the cause of death could not be determined at this stage. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for further forensic and medical examination.

Police Surgeon Dr. Samia Syed confirmed the arrival of the body at the hospital and said it was in an advanced state of decomposition. Authorities have launched a full investigation into the incident.

Humaira Asghar Ali appeared in ARY’s reality show Tamasha Ghar and the 2015 film Jalebi.
