PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has taken a significant step towards providing financial security to its citizens by launching a life insurance scheme.

Barrister Saif, Information Adviser to the KP government, announced that the provincial government has approved this plan to extend financial support to the people of the province, particularly after introducing the universal health coverage scheme.

The primary objective of this welfare scheme is to provide financial assistance to the poor and downtrodden segments of society, with around 49% of the population living below the poverty line.

The death of a breadwinner can push an entire family into a financial crisis, and this scheme aims to mitigate that risk. Under the scheme, families will receive Rs. 500,000 in financial support if a family member over 60 years old passes away, while families will receive Rs. 1 million if a family member below 60 years old passes away.

This initiative demonstrates the government’s commitment to supporting its citizens during difficult times. The loss of life is irreparable, but extending financial help can be a crucial step in sustaining an affected family.

Moreover, the KP government is considering establishing an insurance company at the provincial level, which would further enhance the accessibility of insurance services to its citizens.

The life insurance scheme is a significant milestone towards creating a welfare state in the province. By providing financial security, the government aims to alleviate poverty and improve the overall well-being of its citizens.

This move is expected to have a positive impact on the lives of millions of people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
