Pakistan sends 15th, 16th relief consignments to Gaza, Lebanon

ISLAMABAD: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) took the initiative, following Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s directions, to send the 15th and 16th humanitarian relief assistance consignments to war-hit regions Gaza and Lebonan.

These consignments, each carrying 100 tons of winterized tents and blankets, were dispatched from Islamabad to Amman for Gaza and Beirut for Lebanon.

The send-off ceremony, held at Islamabad International Airport, was attended by esteemed guests, including Members of Parliament, Palestinian Ambassador Zuhair M. H. Darzaid, Lebanese Ambassador Ghassan Khatib, and representatives from NDMA, Foreign Office, and Armed Forces. Parliamentarians reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting Lebanese and Palestinian brethren in distress.

This recent effort brings the total relief items dispatched to 1,598 tons, showcasing Pakistan’s unwavering humanitarian assistance. The ambassadors of Palestine and Lebanon expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Government and people of Pakistan for their compassion and generosity.

According to the Palestinian Ambassador, Pakistan’s support serves as a beacon of hope, demonstrating their shared commitment to peace and justice for the people of Gaza.

Earlier, NDMA had dispatched the 14th consignment of aid from Karachi, comprising approximately 17 tons of supplies, including tents, food tins, dry milk, clothes, and hygiene kits.

Minister for Maritimes Affairs Qaisar Ahmed Sheikh emphasized the urgent need for relief and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting Palestinian and Lebanese brethren in distress.

Pakistan’s continued efforts to provide humanitarian aid to Gaza and Lebanon reflect its dedication to supporting those affected by conflict. With multiple consignments dispatched, Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority remains at the forefront of providing relief to those in need.
