LAHORE: The prices of basic food necessities have experienced significant increases, forcing people to handle their daily budgets because authorities fail to enforce designated price limits.
Shopkeepers across various markets have exceeded government price controls because milk and yogurt prices have surpassed established price limits.
The official price of milk, according to sources, stands at Rs170 per liter. The product, however, is available in the market for prices between Rs200 and Rs240 per liter.
The price of yogurt has increased because current market rates range between Rs220 and Rs250 per kilogram. The residents demanded that administration officials respond to the situation by executing strict penalties against people who engage in price gouging.
The citizens demanded that authorities implement price controls, which would protect consumers and establish fair market prices.
