ISLAMABAD: In a recent development, the growth of the Pakistan Auto industry has remained strong with exceptional resilience over the first five months of the 2024-25 fiscal year.
After a significant decline in November sales, total car sales climbed 50 percent, reaching 38,534 units against 25,746 units sold during the same time last year. This surge is hopeful regarding indicators of the industry’s recovery, on the part of an automotive analyst.
While a study reveals that sales for November fell 25.08 percent down to 7,909 units from 10,557 units during October, there has been robust data surrounding overall sales. The PAMA figures revealed that overall, 4,875 cars were sold during November; the demand for jeeps, vans, and pickups was positive as sales were slightly down -2,191 units – from 2,551 in October.
From July to November, the jeep, van, and pickup sales grew by 55% to 12,259 units from 7,891 units during the corresponding period last year. Significant growth signifies the change in consumer preferences towards multipurpose, versatile vehicles. In addition, a highlight of the report is the inclusion of electric vehicles, (EVs) – PAMA now includes data on Dewan’s Horni Ve EV, with 70 units produced and 63 units sold.
The leading automotive manufacturers in Pakistan have also reported significant growth in sales. Pak Suzuki Motor Company reported a 41% increase in sales to 25,812 units in the period from July to November 2013. Indus Motor Company (IMC) followed next with a huge surge of 67%, having sold 10,886 units, while Honda Atlas Cars Ltd recorded a growth of 50%, selling 5,974 units.
However, with an impressive growth of 233%, Sazgar Engineering sold 4,191 units. While Hyundai Nishat did see a marginal dip of 1% in sales accountably; at 3,324 units sold.
Besides the growth in the car section, the two- and three-wheeler segment was also healthy on the sales front.
