ISLAMABAD: In a recent development, the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) announced on Friday that it will remain closed on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, in observance of Quaid-e-Azam Day and Christmas.
The closure was declared a public holiday by the Government of Pakistan, and all Trading Right Entitlement Certificate (TREC) Certificate Holders, staff, and stakeholders have been communicated of the closure via an announcement on Friday.
It is worth noting that the Cabinet Division does send out a list of public holidays for the entire year, in which the 25th of December is observed as a day of public holiday across the country.
This means that all government offices, institutions, and businesses, including that of the PSX, will be closed on this day to allow people to celebrate and observe these significant occasions.
The closure of the PSX is bound to be well received by those participating; the benefits of this will spill over to the start of trading activities after the two holidays, thus allowing traders to take time off to rejuvenate and spend time with family and friends and embrace the festive community season.
