Punjab govt announces increase in salaries of daily wagers

LAHORE: Punjab government has formally declared an increase in the salaries of daily wage workers throughout the province. A formal notification has been signed by the Assistant Commissioner (HR), laying out a new pay scale for skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled (non-skilled) workers.

According to the notification, the daily wage of the skilled laborers has been decided at Rs1,975, elevating their monthly salary to Rs45,945, and semi-skilled workers will get a daily wage of Rs1,558 and a monthly salary of Rs43,108.

The daily wage of the unskilled (non-skilled) laborers has been fixed at Rs1,538 with a monthly salary of Rs40,000.

The pay hike is to bring fiscal relief to employees in light of increasing inflation and the rising cost of living. The new rates will be enforced across all government departments, attached bodies, and autonomous institutions of the Punjab government.

Officials said that strict action will be taken against departments or contractors who are unable to enforce the new wage structure according to the notification.
