LAHORE: The provincial government of Punjab has decided to start an e-taxi service soon across the province, here on Wednesday.
Punjab Minister for Transport Bilal Akbar Khan presided over a special meeting of the steering committee in this regard.
Officials from transport, PECA, NESPAK, Excise and Taxation, Bank of Punjab, and other relevant officials participated in the meeting.
A comprehensive briefing was also given to the minister about the e-taxi project. The participants of the meeting reviewed different electronic vehicles, their prices, and other technical issues.
It was decided that 1100 electric vehicles will be provided during the first phase of the project, and for this purpose, interest-free loans will be provided to the applicants.
Provincial Minister for Transport Bilal Akbar Khan said that the e-taxi project will provide employment and better travel facilities to the people.
He said that simple terms and conditions are fixed for the e-taxi scheme. He said that this latest project will start the beginning of a new era in public transport.
