Sharp increase in chicken price in Lahore, parts of Punjab: Check latest rate here

LAHORE: Chicken Meat rates in Lahore, and other cities of Punjab saw sharp increase, with price of chicken rates being sold over Rs650 in the provincial capital, here on Monday.

As per the government rate list, price of chicken meat stands around Rs 594 per kg while rates issued by district government are not followed.

As the situation remained worse in Lahore, and other Punjab cities, it is worse in Peshawar and other cities of KP.

The rise in prices has come amid increased demand and increased consumption of other meats. Local traders say that the price of live chicken meat is now Rs 490 per kg, recently the price of broiler chicken meat has increased by Rs 100 per kg.

The sharp increase in the price of meat increased the cost of feed, chicks and electricity, which significantly affected the overall cost of poultry farming. Mutton and beef are already becoming beyond the reach of salaried people after sky-high inflation.

Live Broiler (per kilogram) sold in retail: Rs. 396
Broiler Meat (per kilogram) sold in retail: Rs. 594
Eggs from farms (per packet): Rs. 7890
These prices reflect the current market rates in the poultry industry.
