ISLAMABAD: The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has launched a comprehensive initiative to revitalize rural education in Islamabad. DG Syed Junaid Ikhlaq, accompanied by senior officials, visited six schools in rural areas to assess damage caused by recent heavy rains and reinforce ongoing government initiatives to enhance educational facilities.

The visit aimed to expedite urgent repairs, with a pledge to complete restoration work within 10 days. This includes whitewashing institutions, electrification, washroom repairs, and window pane replacement.

The Director General also announced specific tasks to augment educational facilities, including the establishment of a computer lab, the construction of a boundary wall, and the creation of a library.

In addition, he emphasized the importance of boosting enrollment in rural schools and highlighted key initiatives by the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, such as recruiting additional teachers, launching a school meal program, establishing ‘Mother and Child’ Health Centres, and introducing IT labs.

To ensure accountability and progress, the Director General mandated regular weekly visits by Area Education Officers to schools within their jurisdiction.

DG also announced plans to introduce inventive programs for rural teachers to improve retention and motivation.

FDE officials will be stationed at the visited schools to oversee repair work, and the Director General stressed the importance of community engagement in supporting local school development.

This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to providing quality education in rural areas, ensuring safe, well-equipped, and equitable learning environments.
