LAHORE: A headmistress at a government school in Lahore’s Johar Town is in hot water after being accused of demanding five expensive dresses in exchange for approving pension documents.

This happened when Rehan Bashir, a resident of Iqbal Town, filed a complaint against the headmistress with the Anti-Corruption Bureau with a secret recording of the demand.

Rehan recounts that he had gone to Government Girls High School to process the pension documents of his deceased mother. However, the school staff told him that the headmistress needed five fancy dresses for her signature on the pension documents. Rehan even recorded the school staff requesting for five dresses.

Rehan made numerous requests to the headmistress but still   managed to sign the documents after providing her with three dresses.

Rehan was clearly agitated when the headmistress acted against himbut he lodged complaints with the department of education with allegations of bribing and exploitation

He insisted that the concerned department delayed filing a case and took two months, which led to his further referral to the anti-corruption department. The Bureau took the grievance seriously; it called out the headmistress, members of the teaching  staff, and CEO of education before them for inquiries.

Unfortunately, the parties failed to appear, and the bureau has now instructed the CEO of education to ensure that the suspects are presented for investigation.
