ISLAMABAD: Hundreds of students were stopped from appearing for the Matriculation examination in Lahore on Monday after they arrived late at the examination centres. The examination was being conducted under the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore.
According to a candidate, the entrance gates of the Lawrence Road examination centre were closed at 9 am, as the paper was to begin at that time.
Parents of several students said that their children were delayed due to heavy rain that started overnight and continued till morning, disrupting normal life and traffic across the city. They urged the board to allow at least five extra minutes for candidates to reach the examination hall during such an emergency.
Parents also expressed fear that students stopped due to the strict policy may lose the benefit of the entire academic year.
Meanwhile, BISE Lahore officials said that the reporting time for all annual exams was fixed at 8 am and no student is allowed to enter the hall after 9 am under any circumstances.
