Punjab announces 5 days holiday for all educational institutions

NANKANA: Due to the Baisakhi festival, all public and private educational institutions in Punjab’s Nankana Sahib city have been closed for five days.

According to reports, a formal notification has been sent by the district administration of Nankana Sahib. To take part in the Baisakhi celebration, many Sikh pilgrims from India have traveled to Pakistan.

The main event is scheduled to take place on April 14, 2025. A security plan has been released for the Baisakhi celebration of the Sikh community under the direction of the District Police Officer (DPO). For event security, 2,000 police officers and other people will be sent in.

On April 10, Sikh yatrees from India and other countries will start coming to Pakistan to commemorate the 326th anniversary of the Khalsa Birth and the Vaisakhi Mela, two Sikh religious festivals to be celebrated this year.

Although 3,000 Sikh pilgrims are permitted to travel to Pakistan under the terms of the Pakistan-India religious tourism agreement, more than 7,000 Indian Yatrees are hoping to visit this year.

The Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) officials say that the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi has been asked to provide.

Pakistan is the second home for Sikhs, and all guests are welcome, said Shrines’ Additional Secretary Saifullah Khokhar. He went on to say that religious tourism has increased as a result of the Government of Pakistan’s and the ETPB’s initiatives.

To improve plans for the Sikh Yatrees, the ETPB sent a circular to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Interior, police, civil administration, security agencies, and other pertinent departments.
