Punjab announces winter holidays for colleges

LAHORE: The Higher Education Department (HED) of Punjab has officially announced the winter vacation schedule for all higher educational institutions in the province, here on Wednesday.

As per the notification issued on December 18, 2024, government and private colleges under the jurisdiction of the department will remain closed from December 24, 2024 (Tuesday) to January 5, 2025 (Sunday).

The notification further stated that classes will resume on Monday, January 6, 2025, after the completion of the winter vacation.

However, it was clarified that the BS 4-year program will continue as usual during the vacations. Moreover, all scheduled examinations will proceed as per the notified schedule set by the concerned boards and universities.

The announcement was made by the Secretary of the Higher Education Department and copies of the notification were sent to important officials including the Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister and heads of various educational institutions.

The HED has directed all relevant authorities to ensure compliance with the schedule, emphasizing the importance of resuming academic activities immediately after the winter vacation.
