Punjab CM Maryam introduces ‘CM Education Card’ to facilitate school education

LAHORE: The Punjab Chief Minister Maryam has announced to launch a ‘Star Card‘ also known as CM Education Card to facilitate students’ school education. Under this scheme, CM Maryam Nawaz aims to expand an advanced school education system throughout the province.

The CM Maryam is introducing various schemes to improve the educational system of Punjab and provide an international level of education to students.

Eligibility Criteria

Under this scheme, the top performing students who will achieve 80% of marks in the annual examination will be provided the ‘Star Card’.

Additionally, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Chief Minister of the Punjab, has announced a whole new batch of reforms in the province’s education philosophy.

Punjab has observed a record breaking increase in literacy rate, after a 52 percent increase in the students’ enrollment and 89 percent increase in the number of teachers since school outsourcing, an impressive additional 126000 kids were enrolled in the recently reorganized public schools, increasing their gross enrollment to 368,000 along with growth in teacher strength to 15,114.

Moreover, teacher salaries have tripled, and classroom facilities have improved substantially, with chairs and desks increasing from 371,000 to 523,000.

In a bid to ameliorate education standards, the government plans to establish modern Schools of Eminence across Punjab, with high-standard institutions in each tehsil.

A state-of-the-art lab for Matriculation Tech will be established, and the introduction of the Technical Education subject will begin from class five onwards.

The Textbook Board has saved one billion rupees, whilst a 90-day limit has been imposed for providing drinking water, furniture and maintenance in schools.

School meal programs would be initiated in Bhakkar, Layyah, and some of the other districts, while a KPI-based performance monitoring of education officers and teachers would be carried out, hence promoting English conversation in 338 Lahore schools.

The CM also emphasized road safety measures, giving directions to implement zebra crossings in front of schools under strict compliance. The five government school teachers would also be sent to a study tour of Scotland with British Council support.

The school meal programme has already shown to be beneficial for physical development, attendance and enrollment in Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur and DG Khan.

The Nawaz Sharif Center of Excellence for Early Childhood Education will now expand to accommodate 1,200 students from its current capacity of 250. In addition, 12,500 interns have been appointed to help teachers and students in various ways.
