LAHORE: Punjab School Education Department ordered an immediate tightening of security in all public and private schools in the province, ordering the respective administrations to strictly follow the official safety protocols.

According to the notification, school heads shall be held personally responsible for the safety of the students and staff.

The move comes against the backdrop of increasing school safety concerns and the need to ensure standard, high-level security across schools.

The government recently increased calls for more stringent oversight, especially in campuses that have large student populations or open access points.

The notification had directed that a comprehensive security audit of every school should be carried out forthwith, and any weakness found during the inspections must be rectified on priority.

The field officers have also been directed to conduct daily monitoring visits to check compliance.

Special instructions have been issued to the principals of all Daanish Schools and Cadet Colleges, emphasizing enhanced vigilance and adherence to all SOPs for safety.

Officials said the goal is to ensure every campus keeps a secure environment.

The department wrote in its guidance that “no compromise will be tolerated on school safety “.

The move also comes in tune with Punjab’s sustained initiative to reinforce security in campuses, after recent reviews showed gaps in surveillance, entry-point monitoring, and emergency preparedness.

The government aims to bring all institutions, urban or rural, under one strict standard of safety compliance.
