PESHAWAR: In a fresh policy shift, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Education Department has announced that a valid teaching license will become compulsory for every teacher in the province.
For the implementation of the system, the department will set up a regulatory body for Rs200 million.
In official documents, the Elementary and Secondary Education Department has undertaken to issue licenses to teachers, making sure that no one can instruct in KP without appropriate permission.
Only licensed and registered teachers shall be allowed to teach under the new system. The regulatory agency shall provide the Terms of Reference (TORs) of the licensing system and issue licenses to teachers who have achieved the specified standards. License renewal shall be tied to performance assessment.
