ATC acquits SM Qureshi, sentences key PTI leaders in May 9 case

LAHORE: The Lahore Anti-Terrorism Court has delivered another verdict in the cases related to the May 9 incidents, here on Tuesday.

PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi was acquitted while several key party leaders have been sentenced to jail terms.

According to the verdict, Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Senator Ejaz Chaudhry, Omar Sarfaraz Cheema and Mian Mahmood Rashid were sentenced to 10 years in prison each in the case of setting fire to an official vehicle near Jinnah House, while Khadija Shah was sentenced to 5 years in prison.

The verdict was delivered by ATC Judge Manzar Ali Gul, which was earlier reserved. The court sentenced 18 out of 39 accused to prison while acquitting 21, including Rubina Jamil.
