ISLAMABAD: Justice Aminuddin Khan, the first Chief Justice of the Federal Constitutional Court, took oath today at the Presidential Palace.
President Asif Ali Zardari administered the oath to Justice Aminuddin during the ceremony.
Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif also attended the ceremony and senior officials of the judiciary and government were present on the occasion.
Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Yahya Afridi, also attended the ceremony and highlighted the historic occasion of the establishment of the Constitutional Court.
Earlier, the President had approved the appointment of Justice Aminuddin Khan as the Chief Justice of the Federal Constitutional Court (FCC).
Justice Aminuddin will be the first Chief Justice of the Federal Constitutional Court.
The President approved the appointment of Justice Aminuddin Khan on the advice of the Prime Minister.
It should be noted that Justice Amin was previously the head of the Constitutional Bench and was retiring at the end of this month.
Justice Khan was to retire from office on November 30.
The Other Judges of the FCC may include Justice Aamir Farooq, Justice Ali Baqir Najfi, Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi, Chief Justice Baliochistan High Court Rozi Khan, and Justice K.K. Agha from Sindh High Court, according to sources.
