PM Shehbaz reiterates no leniency to terrorists, anti-Pakistan elements

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday emphasized the government’s resolve to root out terrorism and reassured that govt would not show any leniency to the terrorists.

Presiding over the federal cabinet meeting in Islamabad today, he strongly condemned the terrorist incidents in Balochistan and other areas of the country that resulted in the martyrdom of innocent Pakistanis including the security forces personnel, state-run Radio Pakistan reported.

On the night of August 25 and 26, the Banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) launched horrific attacks across Balochistan claiming at least 50 lives, including 14 security men. The attacks targeted security personnel as well as civilians, particularly those hailing from Punjab, stormed Levies and Police stations, blew up railway bridge, and set fire to almost three dozen vehicles.

PM Shehbaz reiterated, “The time has come to eliminate terrorism. The sacrifices being rendered for the cause will never be squandered. We need to move forward with firm resolve. There is no question of any weakness.”

‘Talks with only those who believe in Pakistan’

Prime Minster asserted that the government will hold talks with those who believe in Pakistan and the supremacy of its constitution. However, no leniency or talks will be held with the enemies and terrorists.

“Time has come to eliminate terrorism and we need to move forward towards this path with firm resolve,” the prime minister said while addressing the cabinet meeting.

Moreover, he told cabinet members that the government had assured to provide all-out resources to the armed forces to fight out the terrorists. “Inshallah, their nefarious designs will be foiled, provided we identify our enemies and forge unity to eliminate them.”

Prime Minister Sharif added that he would soon visit Balochistan to hold in-depth deliberations on the situation and decide on immediate measures to curb the recent surge in terrorism.

Talking about the wave of terrorism in Balochistan, he remarked, “Such unholy designs are just meant to impede the country’s progress, ongoing CPEC projects in Balochistan and undermine the relationship between Pakistan and China.”

Earlier today, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi reached Quetta to review the ongoing law and order situation in Balochistan.
