PM Shehbaz Sharif says ‘Eastern Neighbour of Supporting Terrorism’

QUETTA: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday alleged that Pakistan’s eastern neighbour was involved in supporting terrorist activities targeting the country, reaffirming the government’s commitment to eliminating terrorism.

The remarks were made during a meeting of the Provincial Apex Committee of the National Action Plan held in Quetta under the chairmanship of the prime minister.

The meeting was attended by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Governor Balochistan, Chief Minister Balochistan, federal ministers and senior civil and military officials.

Addressing the participants, the prime minister said several serious terrorist incidents had occurred in recent days, resulting in the martyrdom of police personnel, members of the Pakistan Army and civilians.

He stated that security forces had killed 54 terrorists during various operations and vowed that the fight against terrorism would continue until the threat was completely eradicated.

“This war will continue until the last terrorist is eliminated, and the state will foil the nefarious designs of these elements at all costs,” he said.

Paying tribute to the armed forces, Shehbaz Sharif said officers and soldiers had rendered everlasting sacrifices in the defence of the country and that the entire nation stood firmly behind its security forces.

The prime minister further alleged that Pakistan’s eastern neighbour was providing weapons, financial assistance and other forms of support to terrorist groups.

He also siad that militants were using Afghan territory to launch attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that Pakistan’s political and military leadership remained united in its resolve to eliminate terrorism and would utilize all available resources to defeat militant networks and ensure lasting peace and stability in the country.
