KARACHI: Another polio case of 2025 has been reported in Pakistan as a child in Sindh’s Jacobabad district succumbed to the disease.
The child developed symptoms of disability on December 27, 2024 and has now been confirmed to be infected with wild poliovirus type 1.
The first national polio eradication campaign of 2025 will begin in the first week of February.
The National Emergency Operation Center has appealed to parents to ensure that their children under the age of five are vaccinated.
The December polio campaign achieved 98 percent of the target as more than 35.7 million children were vaccinated during the campaign.
Health experts have urged parents to play their role in completely eradicating the disease.
Authorities have directed to take more steps to make the polio campaign in Jacobabad more effective.
