KP Govt to add more hospitals under Health Card Scheme

PESHAWAR: The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has decided to expand free healthcare under the Sehat Card Scheme by adding more public and private hospitals, here on Tuesday.

As per the details, CM KP Ali Amin Gandapur has instructed the relevant departments to hold a policy board meeting to finalize the inclusion of more hospitals that meet Sehat Card Scheme standards.

The directives were issued during a Health Department meeting chaired by the Ali Amin on Monday, as per the official statement.

Chief Minister’s Health Advisor Ehtesham Ali, Additional Chief Secretary for Planning and Development Ikramullah Khan, Health Secretary Syed Adeel Shah, and other officials were present at the meeting from the Health Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Foundation and Sehat Card Plus.

Discussions covered adding more hospitals to the Sehat Card Scheme, outsourcing healthcare facilities in remote districts, implementing health sector reforms, and other key matters.

The meeting also reviewed the financial liabilities related to the outsourced government hospitals and directed the finance department to clear these liabilities to restore health care services in the affected hospitals at the earliest.

As per the decision of the Provincial Cabinet, the meeting also reviewed the outsourcing of additional hospitals through the Health Foundation and tasked the Health Department to prepare proposals for further outsourcing under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model by next month. went

It was decided to streamline the existing hospital outsourcing process by amending the relevant legal framework and setting up a steering committee chaired by the Chief Minister to streamline outsourcing efforts.

The meeting also approved a partnership with Roche Pharmaceuticals to provide free medicines for hemophiliac children with joint expenditure between the provincial government and Roche. The Chief Minister emphasized on the ongoing efforts to strengthen the primary health care centers.

He said outsourcing of hospitals through PPP model has yielded positive results, and this approach will be extended to provide quality health services to residents of remote areas.
