LAHORE: The provincial government of Punjab has imposed a complete ban on electronic cigarettes (vapes) following the instructions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz during the recent cabinet meeting in Lahore.To protect public health, especially the health of the youth, Chief Minister Maryam directed the district authorities and relevant agencies to initiate strong action against the sale and use of vapes across the province.
The Chief Minister said that the increasing use of vapes among the youth is a major health threat. This step has been taken to protect them from addiction and chronic diseases.
In the same cabinet meeting, the Punjab government also presented a comprehensive relief and development package. It includes a 30% to 40% cut in electricity tariffs, the launch of Punjab’s first regional airline and the distribution of 1,100 free electric taxis in Lahore.
The 26th cabinet meeting was attended by top ministers and officials, covering a 101-point agenda focusing on public welfare, environmental protection, infrastructure development, and digital innovation across all sectors.
