Following the Jan 4 shooting at Perry High School, the media subsequently stated that at least seven people had been hurt.

The number of fatalities has now reached two, according to local authorities, who announced on Sunday that Perry High School Principal Dan Marburger passed away while recovering from wounds sustained during the incident.

In the Perry High School shooting, a pupil, age eleven, was killed.

When the incident happened, the media said that at least seven people had been hurt.

In a statement released on Sunday, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds expressed her sorrow, stating that the state “is devastated by the news of Dan Marburger’s death.”

Dan bravely risked everything to keep his students safe, and in the end, he devoted his own life to save them. He did courageous and unselfish deeds that would go on in his memory forever. I hope he finds peace.”

Additionally, Governor Reynolds commanded that all Iowa flags be lowered to half-staff.

“Dan Marburger’s role at Perry High School goes beyond that of principal. Dan is a family man who lives and breathes for his family. He is a husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, according to what his family said on GoFundMe.

“Being the principal at Perry High School since 1995, also means that Dan’s family includes those who have ever walked the halls of Perry High School.”

The January 4 shooting at Perry High School sparked worries about gun violence, a problem that is common in the US. The numbers show that the quantity of firearms in the US exceeds the population, and attempts to curb their proliferation encounter strong political opposition.

According to the Gun Violence Archive, an organization that defines a mass shooting as an occurrence in which four or more people are killed or injured, there have already been three mass shootings in the United States in the first few days of the year.

Particularly vivid reminders of the political impasse on gun control come after school shootings. An elementary school in Uvalde, Texas experienced a horrific occurrence in May 2022 where a guy killed 19 pupils and two instructors.
