New spell of rain to start from today in the country; PMD

ISLAMABAD:  A new spell of rain is expected to begin in Pakistan from Saturday, affecting most parts of the country including Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) says that over the next twelve hours, rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms are possible in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, upper Sindh, Islamabad, Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and surrounding mountainous areas.

According to the Met Office, a fresh bout of rain is expected to accompany a system of westerly winds that is currently affecting the country’s top regions and will soon move into the country’s southern and eastern areas.

In isolated areas of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, northeastern and southern Balochistan, and Punjab, there is also a chance of heavy rain or hailstorm.

During the projected timeframe, snowfall is also anticipated on the mountains in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

RAIN IN PUNJAB, ISLAMABAD

Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock and Chakwal are expected to receive a new round of rains from Saturday, according to PMD.

The rains will also affect Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Khushab, Sargodha, Mianwali, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Bhakkar, Layyah, Multan, Pakpattan, Sahiwal, Kot Addu, Muzaffargarh, Rahim Yar Khan, Sadiqabad, Khanpur, Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar with occasional gaps.

RAIN IN KARACHI

PMD has predicted that Karachi will recieve heavy to moderate rainfall on the coming weekend — April 13 and 14.

According to the Met department, different areas of Sindh including Sukkur and Larkana are also expected to witness moderate to heavy rainfall in the coming days.

HEAVY RAINS IN BALOCHISTAN

The Department of Meteorology predicts torrential rainfall in some parts of Balochistan.

A representative for the PMD said that in addition to Quetta, places including Pishin, Muslim Bagh, and Ziarat can expect rains, and Zhob, Sherani, Barkhan, Musa Khel, Kohlu, Sibi, and Jhal Magsi could expect heavy rainfall.

It is projected that Chaman, Qila Abdullah, Qila Saifullah, Loralai, and Kalat may see thunderstorms with intense rainfall. It is essential that locals adopt the appropriate safety measures.

Furthermore, Turbat, Harnai, Nasirabad, Jaffarabad, Chagi, Panjgur, Gwadar, and Kech are all predicted to see rainfall.

KP WEATHER

According to PMD, there will be rain in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa until April 15.

Peshawar, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Hazara, Swabi, Mardan, Kohat, and DI Khan are among the places where rain is possible.

Rainfall in the higher regions increases the risk of flooding in rivers and canals, as well as landslides and PMD.
