PHC orders to remove Asad Qaiser’s name from ECL

Peshawar High Court ordered the immediate removal of former Speaker of National Assembly Asad Qaiser’s name from the Exit Control List (ECL) on Thursday.

Justice Shakeel Ahmed and Justice Sahibzada Asadullah heard the petition of PTI leader Asad Qaiser. The Peshawar High Court termed the June 23, 2023 order to include PTI leader’s name in the ECL as unconstitutional and against the law.

Asad Qaiser’s lawyer Muazzam Butt Advocate told the court that Asad Qaiser was going to perform Umrah and he was stopped from performing Umrah.

Justice Sahibzada Asadullah asked when his name was included in the ECL. The lawyer said that his name was put on the exit control list on June 23.

Justice Shakeel asked if he was elected as a member of the National Assembly in recently held general elections. The lawyer responded that Qaiser was recently again elected to the National Assembly and is a senior politician.
