PESHAWAR – The Central Ruet-e-Hilal committee will meet on March 11 (Monday) in Peshawar for a moon sighting of Ramzan 1445 Hijrah. Ramazan is just a few days away. On Monday, the 29th of Shaaban, the central committee meeting will begin following Asr prayers in Peshawar.

Abdul Khabir Azad, the head of the Ruet-e-Hilal committee, will chair the meeting. Along with zonal committee meetings in their respective regions, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet in Pesahwar. Following the meeting, the committee will announce whether or not the Ramazan moon was seen.

However, experts claim that even though the moon of Ramzan will rise on March 10, it won’t be seen then. Instead, on March 11, the moon will be perfectly visible. With a 95% chance that the first fast will be kept on Tuesday, March 12, experts predicted that the first Taraweeh will occur on the evening of March 11.

The International Astronomical Centre predicts that on the day of the central conjunction, which is slated for 9am GMT, the moon will emerge after sunset in most Islamic nations. For this reason, many countries anticipate that March 11 will mark the beginning of Ramadan. That being said, there is little likelihood of seeing the crescent on March 10 according to scientific standards for crescent visibility.
