The mayor claims that no military targets were present in the region and that several residential buildings were destroyed.

Days after the incident that left three people dead in the same area, a non-military part of Kharkiv was struck by the most recent Russian S-300 missile attacks, according to the regional governor of Ukraine, who said on Tuesday that at least 16 people were injured, two of whom were in serious condition.

Oleg Synegubov, the city’s governor, stated that the missiles struck residential structures.

Situated 30 kilometers (19 miles) from the Russian border, the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv has been subjected to many strikes since Russia initiated its special military campaign in February 2022.

The mayor declared that there were no military objectives in the region and that several residential properties had been destroyed as a result of the strikes.

Authorities in the larger Kharkiv region earlier on Tuesday asked almost 3,000 people living in over twenty towns close to the frontline to leave, claiming an increase in Russian strikes in the area.

Shortly after the special military operation in Ukraine, Russian soldiers grabbed large portions of the Kharkiv region, and they have continued to attempt to seize the territory even though they are losing ground there.

Nearly two weeks had passed since Russian strikes on January 8 in the Kharkiv district of Zmiiv killed at least three persons.

Previously, on December 30, of last year, Russia launched the largest missile barrage on Kyiv and many other Ukrainian cities, resulting in at least 30 fatalities and over 160 injuries.

In a statement, Russian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that his country “used nearly every type of weapon in its arsenal” against both homes and a maternity hospital.

A spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force claims that Russia’s air defenses, which were defeated, have greatly improved.

He said that Russia employed hard-to-intercept X-22 and other hypersonic, cruise, and ballistic missiles. He also said, “We’ve never seen so many targets hit simultaneously.”

Out of 158 missiles and drones, the air force reported that 114 had been shot down. Only a direct missile hit could cause this kind of devastation.

For months, falling debris was the main source of the devastation and deaths that Ukrainians constantly expected. A bigger threat has now resurfaced.

With the exception of the early stages of the war’s continuous bombardment, Ukrainian Air Force Spokesperson Yuriy Ignat declared that this was “the most massive missile attack” and a “record number” of missiles fired.
