Pakistan firmly rejects Iran’s unlawful infringement of its airspace

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan vehemently denounced Iran’s unwarranted invasion of its airspace on Tuesday, which claimed the lives of two innocent children and injured three more.

The Foreign Office Spokesperson said in a statement that this breach of Pakistan’s sovereignty is wholly unacceptable and may have dire repercussions.

“What is even more concerning is that this illegal act has occurred in spite of the fact that Pakistan and Iran have multiple channels of communication,” the statement continued.

Pakistan has already sent a formal protest in Tehran to the senior official in charge of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The statement further stated that Iran will bear full responsibility for the consequences and that the Iranian Charge d’affaires has been summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to express our severe condemnation of this flagrant breach of Pakistan’s sovereignty.

“Pakistan has consistently stated that terrorism poses a threat to all nations in the region and calls for concerted response.”

According to the statement, such unilateral actions can gravely damage bilateral trust and confidence and are not consistent with good neighborly relations.
