FBR launches crackdown on renown Pakistani actress

ISLAMABAD: The Lifestyle Monitoring Cell of Pakistan’s Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has taken legal actions against a popular television and film actress in Pakistan regarding massive income tax evasion, as per official documents.

The Cell has identified discrepancies between the income claimed by the actress and the lifestyle led by the actress, including unaccounted spending.

There emerged significant Under-reported Income, resulting in the FBR proposing a comprehensive audit and proceeding under the Income Tax Ordinance of 2001.

On the basis of these findings, the Lifestyle Monitoring Cell has recommended that notices of concealment of income, notices of amendments in taxes, as well as recovery notices of unpaid taxes should be issued. Even the FBR is contemplating fines as well as prosecutions in the matter of deliberate evasion of taxes.

As per FBR records, the actress is a well-known public personality, having made a successful career through her appearances in leading drama serials like Sabaat, Sammi, Aangan, and other successful dramas like Nauroz, Naeem, and Jama Taqseem. She has also made headlines through her lavish wedding in February 2025.

The actress has a massive following on various online platforms; she has more than 10 million followers on Instagram, approximately 2 million on Twitter, over 2.4 million on Facebook, and 31,500 on YouTube, expected to further establish her immense earning capacity.

According to FBR records, she has been to Dubai in 2024 to mark her 32nd birthday celebration, along with visits to London and Bali.

An estimation of her wedding spending from available open sources, such as social media posts, videos, and reels, has estimated a total wedding spend of around Rs 67.7 million. Not one of these spending activities has been reflected in her tax returns.

The actress has been a registered member of the FBR since 2016; however, from her reported income and assets, it can be noted that the actress was not financially capable of organizing a wedding of that magnitude and pursuing multiple international trips.

The actress reported that these personal expenditures were not included in her wealth statement or expense summary because they were met through unaccounted sources of income.
