Saif Ali Khan undergoes surgery after knife attack at Mumbai home

MUMBAI: Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was injured early Thursday with a knife stabbing after thieves entered his residence in Mumbai’s Bandra area.

Police confirmed to the media that Saif Ali Khan was attacked around 3 am today and sustained injuries. The actor was immediately taken to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai and is undergoing surgery.

“There was an attempted burglary at Saif Ali Khan’s residence. He is currently in the hospital undergoing surgery,” said a statement from the actor’s team.

As per reports, Saif’s wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and their children are safe and escaped the scenes unharmed.

In another statement issued by Kareena Kapoor, the star assured fans that she and the kids are doing fine after the attack while requesting privacy from fans.

“We request media and fans to be patient and not speculate any further as the Police are already doing their due investigations. Thank you all for your concern.”

Indian media, citing hospital sources, reported that one injury was deep, and he received 10 stitches for this stab, but it did not affect his spine.

“He was fortunate that the stabs have not affected any vital organs. Two injuries are deep, two are mid and two are superficial,” the Hindustan Times cited sources.

The Mumbai Police have initiated an investigation into the matter and several police teams formed to nab the attacker. The police’s Sniffer dog is also brought to the Saif’s Bandra residence.

According to a report by the Indian Express, the police have detained a few suspects.
