LAHORE: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has summoned YouTuber Iqra Kanwal over an inquiry into the promotion of gambling applications in her vlogs.
The inquiry was started on August 28, and she has been given two notices.
Saadur Rehman (Ducky Bhai) and other content creators, including Iqra, have been accused of promoting gambling applications through their social media platforms.
Ducky Bhai and Mudassar Hassan have already been arrested by the NCCIA for allegedly promoting such apps.
Now, the NCCIA has summoned Kanwal, Rajab Butt, and Muhammad Anas to its Lahore office on September 9. The NCCIA has stated that if Kanwal fails to appear, it will be considered that she has no defence.
Kanwal, an artist and YouTuber, has filed a response to the NCCIA through her lawyer, Barrister Mian Ali Ashfaq.
In reply to the NCCIA notice, Kanwal stated that she is pregnant and due to give birth soon, adding that she cannot appear before the NCCIA under these conditions.
The reply noted that the doctors have advised at least two months for recovery time.
“Fully cooperate with the investigation and provide all necessary records”, the reply said when she recovers.
Her legal team has requested that she be granted at least two months before appearing in person before the agency’s investigators.
“Our law firm will represent Iqra Kanwal. The reply was prepared on September 2 and submitted later in line with our legal strategy,” Barrister Ashfaq confirmed.
