ISLAMABAD: The first flight carrying relief supplies for flood victims from the US has reached Pakistan, according to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).
A total of six flights will bring relief supplies to Pakistan, and aid is being provided to the flood victims through the US Army Central Command.
The US Chargé d’Affaires handed over the relief supplies to the military authorities. The relief supplies include tents, generators and water extraction machines.
The Pakistan Army spokesperson said that the relief supplies will be distributed to the flood victims through the relief camps of the Pakistan Army.
The Pakistani government and people are grateful to the US government and the military for supporting the flood victims.
On the other hand, the US Central Command and Disaster Response Group, led by the US Chargé d’Affaires, visited the NEOC.
The Chairman of NDMA briefed the delegation on the scope of NEOC’s capabilities and early warning system.
Natalie Baker described NDMA’s modern disaster management model as exemplary for the region, and assured US support through technical experts and humanitarian organizations. Lieutenant General Patrick Frank appreciated NDMA’s proactive measures.
The US delegation reiterated its commitment to further enhance cooperation in disaster prevention and mutual simulation exercises. In addition, the US Department of State’s Disaster Expert for Asia, Ivanna Vu, and her team also visited.
The Pakistan Army is conducting a large-scale rescue and relief operation in the flood-affected areas of Punjab.
Thousands of people have been evacuated from the affected areas of Gujranwala, Sialkot, Gujarat, Narowal and Shakargarh. General Officer Commanding Major General Imran Khan Babar visited the flood-affected areas of Sialkot.
The GOC reviewed the facilities provided to the victims in the relief and medical camps.
