ISLAMABAD: Official staff from the British High Commission had visited the National Press Club Islamabad, on Friday to introduce the Chevening South Asia Journalism Fellowship (SAJP). Funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office and hosted by the University of Westminster, the SAJP is aimed at mid-career journalists from countries including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives. The program, running from May-June, offers fellows lectures, visits, and discussions with key UK academics, media, and political figures.
The session commenced with insights from the Director of Communication and Public Diplomacy, Pawan Dhande, emphasizing the opportunities SAJP offers. Shehla Qayyum, the Head of Chevening, subsequently detailed the application process, eligibility criteria, and an overview of the 8-week fellowship.
The event, attended by approximately 50-60 journalists, concluded with an interactive question and answer session, highlighting the keen interest of the journalistic community in the initiative.
