Prominent Pakistani lawyer and political analyst Naeem Bukhari has come under intense public criticism after comments he made during a recent podcast interview triggered widespread debate on social media.

Appearing on a show hosted by Mahnoor Lilla, Bukhari shared his personal views on illness, aging, and death. During the conversation, he said that prolonged suffering due to serious illness is not a desirable way to live and suggested that a quick death would be preferable to spending years confined to a bed. He also remarked that if he ever found himself permanently bedridden, he would have preferred euthanasia.

Reflecting on his personal experiences, Bukhari recalled that his father passed away within seconds. He contrasted that experience with witnessing another elderly man living through a prolonged illness, saying it reinforced his perspective on the quality of life during old age.

The remarks quickly spread across social media, where many users strongly disagreed with his opinions. Several people argued that life and death are determined by Allah and should not be viewed through personal preference. Others stressed that caring for elderly or ill parents is considered both a moral responsibility and a blessing, rejecting the idea that they become a burden.

The interview has since generated widespread discussion online, with many users continuing to express disappointment over Bukhari’s comments while others debate the sensitive issues of aging, dignity, and end-of-life care.
