11 people died, 50 injured in rain related incidents in Pakistan

PESHAWAR: In a tragic incident, eleven people have died and almost fifty people have been injured due to rain-related incidents in both Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces.

As per the report of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Disaster Management Authority, there were eight deaths and 21 injuries related to the rains in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

As for the Punjab Disaster Management Authority, three deaths and 25 injuries across the province were reported due to rain. The report further said that 2 deaths due to lightning strikes occurred in Mianwali and Attock, with another death resulting from a building collapse in Multan.

The Disaster Management Authorities in both provinces advised citizens to take precautions as pre-monsoon rains had still not ended and were expected to conclude tomorrow.

On May 28, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) submitted a report, addressing the effects of rain and strong winds, and hailstorms throughout Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Punjab.

The report indicates that three individuals died and nine others suffered injuries from severe weather events.  According to the report, two of the three victims in KP were women.

The deaths and injuries were reported in various districts, including Swabi, Peshawar, Shangla, Swat, and Haripur. According to the PDMA, in Peshawar, sixteen houses were partially damaged by heavy rainfall and strong winds, affecting even more of the population in the area.

According to the PDMA, reports of accidents related to weather were noted in Swabi, Peshawar, Shangla, Swat, and Haripur. As for the province of Punjab, a spokesperson for the Rescue services reported that strong winds and storms resulted in many incidents of injury and death, including two deaths and 18 injuries overall.
