16 protestors killed, 40 injured amid rising protests in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Tensions escalated during the ongoing protests in Islamabad when several people were injured in police firing. According to eyewitnesses, the situation suddenly deteriorated, and a stampede broke out, and several protesters were shot.

According to rescue sources, nine injured were immediately shifted to Polyclinic Hospital where they are being provided medical assistance.

Hospital administration said that two of the injured protesters succumbed to their injuries, while the physical examination and treatment of the other injured are underway. In total, 61 people have died in the blaze.

The atmosphere in the city has become mournful after the incident, and videos and pictures are rapidly going viral on social media. Various quarters are demanding a transparent investigation into the incident, while citizens have been asked to avoid rumors and monitor the situation.

The administration says that steps are being taken to maintain law and order, and efforts are underway to keep the situation under control. Protests against tensions with Iran in various cities of Pakistan have turned into major tragedies, resulting in reports of deaths and injuries across the country.

Several people were killed and injured in clashes between police and protesters during protests in the Gilgit-Baltistan region. According to local authorities, six people lost their lives due to this regional conflict, while more than 40 people were injured who are being shifted to hospitals for medical treatment.

Meanwhile, more deaths were reported in other parts of the country due to protests and police response. At least six people were killed and several others injured in clashes between security forces and protesters outside the US consulate in Karachi, with some reports putting the death toll as high as nine.

The protests erupted as public anger and outrage over the killing of Iran’s supreme leader and subsequent violent attacks spilled onto the streets. In total, at least 16 people were reported dead in protests across Pakistan in a matter of hours, with scores injured, and the situation remains tense.

Authorities said additional forces were being deployed to maintain law and order, and appealed to protesters to express their demands peacefully.
