35 of 38 demands accepted, yet protests continue: AJK Govt questions JAAC motives

MUZAFFARABAD: The spokesperson of the Azad Kashmir government says that the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) is spreading a misleading and baseless narrative in the name of public issues.

According to the spokesperson, the government has chosen the path of negotiations, relief, and implementation, while the JAAC has preferred pressure and street politics instead of flexibility.

The Azad Kashmir government said that even after 35 out of 38 demands have been accepted, the insistence on protest is not in the public interest but is political stubbornness.

Peaceful protest is a democratic right, but taking the law into one’s own hands, blocking roads, and paralyzing public life cannot be allowed.

The spokesperson of the Azad Kashmir government warned that the Joint Awami Action Committee will not be allowed to impose its will in the name of public demands. If an attempt is made to disrupt law and order by being stubborn, action will be taken according to the law.

The spokesperson said that Azad Kashmir does not need continuous protests; stability, dialogue, and practical solutions are needed. The decisions of the assembly cannot be rejected by street pressure.

According to the statement, the Azad Kashmir government must take a strong and clear stand for the public interest and rule of law. The obstacle in the electoral process on June 9 will not be the defense of public rights, but an attempt will be made to affect the democratic process.

The people should trust in votes, dialogue, and the constitutional process instead of the politics of closures, strikes, and pressure.

The statement by the Azad Kashmir government said that the government did not close the doors, but the Public Action Committee chose the path of confrontation instead of negotiations.

According to the spokesperson, there should be no compromise on peace and stability in Azad Kashmir, and attempts to take public life hostage should be stopped within the framework of the law.
