GWADAR: Strong tremors were felt in Gwadar on Saturday, sending residents fleeing their homes in fear. The seismological center recorded the quake at 4.9 on the Richter scale.

The center confirmed that the epicenter of the earthquake was 40 kilometers southwest of Pasni, while the depth of the earthquake was recorded at 14 kilometers below the surface.

The tremors were felt mainly in Gwadar district, and while the intensity spread panic among locals — many of whom began reciting the Kalima Tayyaba as they evacuated their homes — there were no immediate reports of loss of life or property.

Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation, although initial assessments suggest that the earthquake did not cause any significant damage.

Gwadar is located in a seismically active zone and experts have urged residents to be vigilant in case of aftershocks and follow safety instructions.
