ISLAMABAD: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi has said that 878 miscreants, including 120 Afghan nationals, have been arrested over violence during the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) D-Chowk protest.

Addressing a news conference on Sunday, IG Islamabad said that 144 safe-city cameras worth 154 million rupees, 10 police vehicles, 31 motorcycles of police personnel, and three private cars were badly damaged by the violent protestors.

Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi said resources of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government were used in this onslaught on the federal capital, adding that strict action will be taken against perpetrators of violent attacks on police, law enforcement agencies, and public property.

IG Islamabad said eight Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police officials were arrested, while slingshots, live teargas shells, and government and private weapons were recovered from the violent protestors.

Answering a question, the IG Islamabad Ali Nasir Rizvi said the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur is neither in the custody of police nor other law enforcement agencies.

Inspector General further pledged that those involved in the killing of police constable Abdul Hameed Shah will not be spared. He said a strict First Information Report, as per the law, will be lodged against these elements.

He said now the police force is going after miscreants’ hideouts in every nook and corner of the Islamabad Capital Territory.

“Islamabad Police is fully alert and committed to protecting the citizens’ lives, property, and honor. No one will be allowed to disturb peace and tranquility in the capital city,” he added.
